Qatar: October 2015
My dearest childhood friend moved to Doha in 2005 and for 10 years had suggested that I add Qatar to my travel plans and come for a visit. So in my usual way, I booked a trip and planned an itinerary that would have me circumnavigating Qatar and select points in between to make sure I covered every corner of the almost 12,000 sq. km country extending north to south 160km and east to west 90km.
Qatar is a country that is rapidly changing with innovative, unconventional architecture rising up from the desert. Qatar’s architecture is in itself art and then there is art is Qatar (see blog on Richard Serra’s art installation East-West/West-East ) The photo essay below narrates my travels in Qatar to see perhaps what you would have expected and undoubtedly what may be a surprise.
